A hypothetical guide for creating a virtual universe called "The Oasis" based on the book and movie Ready Player One. The author suggests that the game should be accessible from any device, have a central map that players can extend, and have a capitalist economy with real-world value loss. They also suggest that the game should incorporate elements of virtual reality, blockchain technology and have features such as drop parties, trades, social networking, and a grand exchange booth. The author's goal is to create a fun game for both free-to-play and pay-to-play players and is a go-to place for internet exploration and socialization.
A Core Map
The Metaverse is likely to stem from a central institution that provides the means of building beyond it; whether that institution is a future non-profit like W3C or a for-profit organization is yet to be determined. It will likely be undetermined until it exists. Until what exists? The Search Engine Game.
Clearnet is a term that typically refers to the publicly accessible Internet. Sometimes "clearnet" is used as a synonym for "surface web"
When exploring hypothetical attempts at Metaverse today, without identifying specific projects, there is almost always the idea of limitless maps or land ownership paralleled to the Blockchain. I draw the comparison to The Search Engine because it is just that, a place to discover unrealized content and potential in the easiest way possible. At its core, the MAP of today’s internet consists of “All, News, Images, Videos, Books, …More.” The MAP of tomorrow is likely the “Commune, Store, Gallery, Theater, Library, …etc.”
I don’t think the idea can be explained any simpler, at least not by me. I am hopeful for the generation of creators who rise from these siloed pits of gaming today with the knowledge of Internet rearchitecture enabled by the New Web of now and tomorrow.
Internet Items
We are facing a known and unknown world of opportunity as the centrality of ownership grows beyond any individual game and takes hold in The Great Online Game. I will attempt to provide many examples of how this breaks our current understanding and where it might go from here.
1) Dying in one game while wielding the same weapon in another game.
2) Configuring unlimited graphical representations around the same item ID.
3) Utilizing real collectibles as a game item, enabling the owner to claim it from a third party.
4) The never-ending game, intermingling reality and virtual worlds.
5) Selling rental access to the Identity by the individual game.
6) Removing the optionality for central gaming companies to stop private sales.
7) Max power items (Artifacts) randomly or fairly lottery distributed.
8) The value of items you’ve forgotten since childhood that are still tracked online.
9) The revival of dead game economies.
10) The million-dollar sword.
Capitalism & Clans
Actively, our reality is looking down upon the headmasters of web3 gaming because reality has priced us out of competition. To use a modern analogy, the great monkey game is one of few to fortify against the despair that has broadly laid waste to the web3 gaming economy and NFT ecosystem. Why is that? Because those who hold them do not need to sell, therefore, because the volume of that economy is rather small, no change is reflected in price whether desire and interest have gone up or down. For the rest of us plebs, I would say it’s a firesale, but instead, opt to claim nearly that entire market a fruitless scam without vision, ambition, or any moral compass.
However, not all hope is lost. To those children of the future, imagine your Aristocratic neighbor who has utilized that fruitless endeavor of purchasing access to all potential only to wander around the forest, ripe for the slaying aimlessly. To appear not as the pes cavus villain who resists all weight but as that fruit that is so sweet, it bursts like an overripe berry when pressed with the slightest pressure. It is the opportunity to slowly shred the wealth of these elitist gamers of genuine value for those who have actualized pure potential and skill within the thrill of the hunt. It is *The Wilderness; *randomized, unfair, and exciting.
Let us remember to mention that word that is likely to fall into despair, the DAO.
It is that maximized community and pooling of resources, skill, and labor that can fortify those clans that rule a game and entire sections of The Online. Let the fruits of their labor distribute to members and grow into eternity.
Social Gaming
When I hear the older generations speak of social networks and social media, an untamed technology we barely understand, they say. Their minds may be more archaic since they have not experienced it for the entirety of life. Let us discuss something more interesting, the internet as a game. What does it look like? How do we socialize? I have no idea.
I know that social games have come and gone with excitement and nostalgia unmatched by the greatest FPS of our day; the economies were grand, and the open access to players of all ages, backgrounds, and interests was unparalleled. And yet… they have failed to reach much further than a home within the Social Network itself; today, I reference Facebook and MySpace. I reference the games which lived inside them, the games which grew beyond them, and the games which mimicked the mechanisms of engagement and friendship from within them. I suppose it’s not so unlikely that the social media of tomorrow, especially enabled by the shattering of siloed social networks (social graphs) will be replaced by a game itself; in that sense, it already is a game. The text-based game of the internet, The Great Online Game, is the text-based reality I’m typing this article from within.
Video games, also known as computer games, are electronic games that involve interaction with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion-sensing device – to generate audiovisual feedback.
The Web School
I don’t see any limitations to virtual schooling, and I am hopeful that robotics not only become cheaper but that virtual access to robots through smart contract code or other decentralized systems (rather than all machines in one shop or location) becomes more abundant.

Democracy & Network States
A network state is a highly aligned online community with a capacity for collective action that crowdfunds territory around the world and eventually gains diplomatic recognition from pre-existing states.
A network state is a social network with a moral innovation, a sense of national consciousness, a recognized founder, a capacity for collective action, an in-person level of civility, an integrated cryptocurrency, a consensual government limited by a social smart contract, an archipelago of crowdfunded physical territories, a virtual capital, and an on-chain census that proves a large enough population, income, and real-estate footprint to attain a measure of diplomatic recognition.
